INSIGHT: The last time Moshe saw Paraoh?!

Kicked Out of the Palace

The frustrated Paraoh called to Moshe, “Go! Take all your men, women, and children, and get out of here! Go worship in the desert! Just leave your animals here so I can be sure you will return.”

“We can’t do that,” explained Moshe. “We must bring our animals in order to sacrifice them. In fact, we need your animals, as well. After all, we don’t know how many animals HaShem will ask us to sacrifice until we get there.”

HaShem hardened Paraoh’s heart, and he shouted angrily, “The nerve of you! Forget it! Now, I won’t let any of you go!”

Then Paraoh ordered Moshe to leave the palace, “Outta my palace, Moshe! Make sure you never see my face again, for the next time you come here, I will have you killed!”

Moshe responded, “How true it is, Paraoh. This will be the last time I will ever come to see your face.”

The last time Moshe saw Paraoh?!

Didn’t Moshe see Paraoh before he left Egypt?

If so, was Moshe not telling the truth when he told Paraoh that he would never see him again?

Let’s examine Moshe’s words: “This will be the last time I will ever come to see your face.” It’s true! Moshe never came again to see Paraoh. Instead, as we shall soon see, during “The Death of the Firstborn,” it was Paraoh who came running to Moshe, begging him to leave.
