Yaakov and his family were so very thankful to Paraoh for giving them the opportunity to live a quiet life, filled with learning Torah and doing Mitzvos. Yaakov blessed Paraoh, “May the Nile rise and overflow, giving water to the land!”
HaShem made Yaakov’s blessing come true. Once again the land flourished. All of Egypt realized that it was only because of Yaakov that the famine stopped early. In fact, the famine lasted for only two years!
Paraoh had much for which to thank the family of Yaakov. During the famine, Yosef was responsible for making the wealthy Paraoh even wealthier, and now Yaakov was the one who caused the awful famine to come to an end.
Yaakov’s family settled into their new homes in Goshen. Yosef, who still lived in the palace in order to continue his royal duties, made sure his family lived comfortably with plenty of food.
