This was it! After all these years of incredible leadership of Moshe Rabbeinu, it was time for another leader to take over… Moshe’s prize student, Yehoshua, would be his successor. Of course, not everyone was satisfied with this arrangement. There were those who would be mumbling and grumbling, “Hey, this Yehoshua, may be a great scholar, but who can ever compare him to the unrivaled, unparalleled, unequivocally exceptional Moshe Rabbeinu! Hmmph! Why should we accept him as our leader?!”
To solve that problem, Moshe invited Yehoshua to teach Torah to the Jewish people while he was still alive. Now it was clear to all that Yehoshua was the right man at the right time to succeed Moshe Rabbeinu and lead Bnei Yisrael into their new land.
