Very early the next morning, the Eirev Rav led their joyous and rowdy celebration for their new idol, the Golden Calf.
“Hurray! Hail to our magnificent idol!” “Baruch Atah Adon Ox, Egleinu Melech HaOlom…” they shouted.
They sang and danced around the Golden Calf.
They celebrated and offered sacrifices to it. They feasted and laughed. Although most of the Jews were upset and thought to themselves, “We just became a holy nation of HaShem, how dare they exchange this for a hunk of gold?”, yet there were still some other Jews who joined in.
